Materials & Production
Sustainability is Key
In recent years, there has been a growing awareness of the environmental impact of the consumer industry. As consumers become more conscious of their purchasing decisions, sustainability has become a key consideration when choosing clothing and other items. In this section, we will explore the importance of sustainability in the consumer industry and how it can contribute to a more environmentally friendly future.
Carbon Footprint
Sustainability in the consumer industry refers to the use of eco-friendly materials, ethical production practices, and responsible waste management. By adopting sustainable practices, brands and consumers can minimize their carbon footprint and reduce the negative impact on the environment.
One of the main reasons why sustainability is important in the industry is the significant amount of resources required to produce i.e. clothing. From water and energy to raw materials, the fashion industry has a substantial environmental footprint. By embracing sustainable practices, brands can reduce their resource consumption and minimize waste.
Fair Treatment
Another important aspect of sustainability in the clothing/fashion industry is the ethical treatment of workers. Many fast fashion brands have been criticized for their exploitative labor practices, including low wages and unsafe working conditions. By prioritizing sustainability, brands can ensure fair treatment and safe working environments for their employees.
Sustainable fashion also promotes the use of eco-friendly materials. Traditional clothing materials, such as cotton, require large amounts of water and pesticides to grow. On the other hand, sustainable materials like organic cotton, hemp, and bamboo are grown using fewer resources and without the use of harmful chemicals. By using these materials, fashion brands can reduce their environmental impact.
Recycling
Furthermore, sustainable fashion encourages responsible waste management. The fashion industry is notorious for its high levels of waste, with many clothing items ending up in landfills. By implementing recycling and upcycling programs, brands and consumers can reduce the amount of clothing waste and extend the lifespan of garments.
Consumers play a crucial role in driving the demand for sustainable products. By choosing to support brands that prioritize sustainability, consumers can send a powerful message to the consumer industry. This demand can push brands to adopt more sustainable practices and create a positive change in the industry.
Our Future
In conclusion, sustainability is of utmost importance in the consumer industry. By embracing sustainable practices, brands can reduce their environmental impact, promote ethical treatment of workers, and encourage the use of eco-friendly materials. Consumers have the power to drive the demand for sustainable products and contribute to a more sustainable future.
What We're Doing
Our own affiliate printing labs have implemented many elements of sustainability, and always strive to improve wherever possible - when producing, printing and sending products to our specific markets.
For example - fabrics are dyed using 7x less water, and eco-friendly dyes are used. By using newer, more efficient dye machines, less water than the average dye process for clothing manufacturers is used, saving 24 million gallons a week. Any water used is filtered and recycled.
Solar energy is used - to power the sewing and cutting facilities, motion-sensor LED lighting and skylights throughout each building, and electric car charging stations to encourage employees to go green.
Manufacturing facilities and LA Headquarters produce almost no landfill because pretty much everything that can't be turned into clothing is recycled. Cutting has been optimized to reduce plastic use, and excess fabric is recycled into a number of things like baby bibs or stuffing for upholstery.
VISUDECO® is offering organic cotton and eco-friendly materials in our clothes with original designed prints. Staying in line with the idea and necessity for a sustainable future.
Offering the same base products (i.e sweatshirts, t-shirts and hoodies) - also minimize waste, as only the purchased products get embroidered, printed, packed and then shipped to the consumer/buyer, and the main bulk of base products - before embroidering and printing - waits at our affiliate printing facilities - for the next customer's choice in printed designs. So - the discarding of "out of season" - clothes - is not an issue, and also minimizes waste considerably.
The Prints on Garments
Direct-to-garment (DTG) printing is used. This is a printing method that uses ink to print directly onto the fabric. The ink goes straight into the fibers of the fabric, so you don’t feel the design or ink when you touch it.
DTG-printed designs soak into the clothing fibers. That way, the prints:
- Don’t sit on top of the fabric
- Remain uncracked over time
- Aren’t stiff and feel comfortable to wear
. . . and there's almost no setup time, which means the prints are sent your way - as quickly as possible.
DTG designs are printed using non-toxic vegan inks that ensure the garments are safe for adults and children. They are printed with machines that are energy-efficient and produce zero wastewater.
The Framed & Mounted Prints
